We drove to another trailhead and started our ride from the much smaller trailhead parking area. From this trailhead, many more hikers enter the canyon and start their treks into The Bulldog Canyon.
The first part of this trail is on an old jeep trail that splits off after you enter a wash.
The split after the wash
A lot of this ride is on solid rock
Elisabeth leads Mary, Alan Peg and I into the heart of the Canyon.
Part of having a dog with you is having to get off of your mount once in awhile to fix a "flat tire". Here Elisabeth is off of her horse Romeo to pull some thorns out of Alan's dog Pinky. In the Meantime Peg uses the oppurtunity to do some training with her mule Rita.
Back on the trail again!
It is amazing how many colors there are in the desert
It always amazes me how both the horses and mules "stick" to the rock, even with shoes on.
